Pups in the Park 4

House of Hagg will be at the Choteau Pound Pals' Pups in the Park 4 event this Saturday from 9am to 3pm.  It should be a lot of fun.  There will be a dog walk to raise much needed funds for the Choteau Shelter and a lot of games and activities for you and your dog to participate in!  We will be demonstrating our Bike Tow Leash with McKenzie the Frenzie and if you show up, we'll let you try it out.  Lord Malcolm and Lady McKenzie will also be demonstrating how to run an agility course.  (If we're lucky)

Also, there will be agility demonstrations by Companion Dog School of Tulsa by one of our STARS (the Amazing Haley), and, for a small fee to help out homeless pets, you can try your dog at it too!  Also, you can participate in doggy bowling and other fun events.  The Animal Safari Sanctuary of Broken Arrow will be on hand with some of their exotic animal rescues and there will be plenty of food and other doggy related vendors.  Have your dog's portrait done or just get a great picture of him doing one of the agility jumps.  Whatever you choose to do, make sure you have some fun with your dog!  This should be a great event.

It took her repeating beginning agility to be able to do the teeter and even then, it was 'iffy'.  Now she loves it and just flies over it.

Reflections on Boxer Dog Training

You know, raising 3 boxers requires quite a lot of commitment.  While you are doing it, it seems that whatever behavior you're working on at the time will never get understood by the dog.  Like, when we were house training for example.  We had the 'twins' confined to the kitchen with baby gates for at least 6 to 8 months.  They just couldn't be trusted.   We fed and watered the dogs and immediately my husband would take one, and I the other, on leads and go outside to do their business.  We never talked to them or moved around the yard at that time.  We just stood there stoically while they, in turn, walked around in the small circle that the leash would allow, sniffing and twisting and play-bowing to each other across the yard.  FINALLY, they would go and then we could praise them with talk, and moving around the yard a bit in play.  Then, we brought them in just in time for them to do MORE of their business on my kitchen floor.  HUMPH!  (I had an industrial strength steam cleaner and lots of disinfectant on hand at all times!)  Anyway, after about 1 1/2 years, we were able to just let them go outside on their own and trust them to get the job done. (Part of that taking so long was  because they would just tear around the yard destroying my gardens before they would go).   Now that all that's over, it seems we have a never ending task of teaching new behaviors that the dogs need to know to get on in our human world.  And just when you think you've got that done, one of them will develop a behavior on their own that just won't do in my world.  And so,........we begin again.

I've been reading some old posts and really feeling the pain of my own frustration of raising 3 crazy Boxer Dogs all at the same time.

Pictures of Our New Friends!

A Short Post by
Lord Malcolm and Lady McKenzie

Hi everyone!  Here are some great pictures of our new friends from Legacy Boxer Rescue in the DFW area.  They also love the Bike Tow Leash just like we do!  Their Mommy thinks it's a great way for her to get some exercise so they like to take her for great walks at a pretty good pace.  They're not as used to it as we are, so they probably don't go as fast.  --  We like to pull our helper around, kinda like we 'push' her around inside the Palace.  (She's a softee and we have her wrapped around our little paws).   We let her think she's in charge though, 'cuz it makes her feel important.  It's always good to give the help something to feel good about, you know.  :)

Well, we just had a bath and got our whiskers shaved and our toenails done.  I think I'll have that woman brush our teeth and then we'll go for a ride ourselves.

We sure hope to meet our new friends in person sometime real soon!  But the woman who cares for us says that Arlington is a long ways from here.  We've been through there before, though, so you just never know what might happen!

Oh.  By the way.  They have a website if you want to look at it....www.savetheboxers.com .  Maybe you can find a new dog to own you, too!

Well.  Thanks for sending these wonderful pictures!  We really love hearing from our adoring public!

Our love to all you crazy Boxers out there!
